Category Master Module Help for MIVA Merchant v5

Frequently Asked Questions

Question: After installing the module it worked fine, but after some modifications to the CTGY page template, it reverted back to the Miva default product display. Everything else works, page numbers, subcategory listing, breadcrumbs. But the settings under the “category product list layout” no longer function.

Answer: This can happen if Category Product List Layout is in point and click mode, even though our template is selected in the version history. Here is a quick solution:

  1. Expand your store link
  2. Click on Pages under your store
  3. Select CTGY page to edit
  4. Click on the Category Product List Layout tab at the top
  5. Select ADS Category Master template in the version history box and click restore.
  6. Click on the Advanced mode under the version history
  7. Click update at the bottom of the page
  8. You may want to name this template in the notes field to make it easy to identify

Doing this should prevent the template from being reset in the future. Just make sure you do not switch back to point and click mode.

Question: How do I remove or change the background color or the border color surrounding each of the products on the category display.

Answer: This can be done by making some modifications on the Category Product List Layout template. Here are the steps to follow.

  1. Expand your store link
  2. Click on Pages under your store
  3. Select CTGY page to edit
  4. Click on the Category Product List Layout tab at the top
  5. Make sure the ADS Category Master template or its modified version is selected in the version history box.
  6. Make sure the the Advanced mode is selected under the version history
  7. Search for bgcolor="#FFFFFF" or the bordercolor="#F9F9F9" in the template code(textarea field). Adjust the table settings to the background color, the border color or size as neccessary. Visit the Templates Layout section of the help are for explanations of the template areas.
  8. You may want to name this template in the notes field to make it easy to identify
  9. Click on the Update button to save your new settings.
